Eligibility Criteria for Social Workers /Members of the Board

1. (1) The applicant shall not be less than 35 years of age and more than 65 years of age.
2. (2) The applicant shall have at least seven years of experience in health, education, or welfare activities pertaining to children or shall be a practicing professional with a degree in child psychology, psychiatry, sociology, or the field of law.
3. (3) Any person who was a member of the previous board can also apply for the second term which can be consecutive.
4. (4) No person shall be eligible for selection as a member of the Board if he—
   1. (i) has any past record of violation of human rights or child rights;
   2. (ii) has been convicted of an offense involving moral turpitude, and such conviction has not been reversed or has not been granted full pardon in respect of such offense;
   3. (iii) has been removed or dismissed from service of the Central Government or a State Government or an undertaking or corporation owned or controlled by the Central Government or a State Government;
   4. (iv) has ever indulged in child abuse or employment of child labor or any other violation of human rights or immoral act.
5. (5) The applicant should not:-
   (i) be holding such full-time occupation that may not allow giving necessary time and attention to the work of the Board as per the Act and Rules.
   (ii) be associated with any Child Care Institution, directly or indirectly, during his tenure as a Board member or have any other conflict of interest.
   (iii) hold any office in any political party during his tenure, or
   (iv) be insolvent.
6.  (6) The appointment of any member of the Board, may be terminated after holding an inquiry by the State Government if he:-
   1. (i) has been found guilty of misuse of power vested under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children ) Amendment Act; or
   2. (ii) fails to attend the proceedings of the Board consecutively for three months without any valid reason; or
   3. (iii) fails to attend a minimum of three-fourths of the sittings in a year.
