Only 27312 elephants in India

• According to the census report by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change the estimation population of Asian elephants in India is around 27,312.
• The census conducted by Asian Nature Conservation foundation at the Indian Institute of Science (Bengluru), several NGOs and independent conservationists aided the Project Elephant Directorate and Forest departments of 23 states.
