World Mental Health Day – 10 October

  • World Mental Health Day is observed on 10 October every year.
  • The objective of the day is to increasing awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health.

World Day Against Death Penalty – 10 Oct 2017

  • In 2003, the World Coalition against the Death Penalty (WCADP) established the World Day against Death Penalty.
  • Partners around the World unite on October 10th to promote awareness of the movement against the death penalty.
  • Since the 1980, there has been a global trend towards the abolition of the death penalty, a trend that continues to this day.
  • According to Amnesty International, 16 countries had abolished the death penalty in law for all crimes in 1977.
  • Forty years later, two-thirds of all countries (141) are now abolitionist in law or in practice.

Antyodaya Express launched

  • The train Antyodaya Express flagged off by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
  • The train will run between Udhan in Gujarat and Jaynagar in Bihar. It will travel 1871 kilometers in 38 hours.

  • A special campaign under Mission Indradanush to achieve full immunization in state has launched by The Jammu and Kashmir government. The campaign was launched by Prime Minister Narednra Modi.

  • In Kedarnath Dham, the Solar Briefcase has been launched by the Uttrakhand Government and a charitable Funding agency, Sawan Cultural Centre and foundation.
  • The aim of the launching was to provide electricity to far flung areas in hill state.

Nobel Prize in Economics Sciences – Richard H.Thaler

  • The Nobel Prize in Economics Science – 2017 wins by the American economist Richard H.Thaler.
  • He wins the prize for his contribution to behavioral economics. He will receive 9-million kroner prize.

Group of Ministers to review GST Composition scheme

  • A group of Ministers has constituted by the GST Council to review the Goods and Services Composition Scheme.
  • The aim is to make the composition scheme more attractive and revisit the goods and services tax rates on restaurants.
  • The team will lead by the Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarna dn Submit its report in two weeks.
